Let’s Celebrate “20 Years of Awesome” Teachers and Staff!
Staff Appreciation Week is coming up the week of May 4th. We have many fun surprises planned for the staff, but we also need some additional help from you and your children to make it THE BEST EVER!!! (plus, it is always more honest and sincere when it comes directly from the heart of our children)
- Student Letters to Teachers: We’d like to have each student create something (a letter, picture, drawing etc…) for their teacher thanking them for being awesome! In their own words, ways, and creativity, your child can express what he/she loves about the teacher. Please keep it to an 8.5 x 11” size sheet of paper. Be sure that the letter/drawing is labeled with your child’s name, the teacher’s name, and grade somewhere on the letter (the back is a great location). We want to ensure that it gets to the right teacher! Please turn the letter in to the front office no later than Friday, April 24th.
- Student Letters to Staff: We are also asking students to make cards/letters for those special people who are not their individual teachers at Cerritos. Please have your child select another person from the list (in addition to their teacher) for whom they can show their appreciation by creating a special letter, picture, or drawing. For the list of staff, please click here. If each child could select one other person from the list, in addition to their teacher, the staff will be blown away! Please turn these letters in to the front office no later than Friday, April 24th.
- Appreciation Posters: We want our teachers and staff to “feel the love” everywhere they go that week, so we plan to hang up posters throughout all the hallways at Cerritos celebrating them! Please ask your student to create a poster (normal posterboard size) to thank the staff for their GREATNESS. Posters can be turned in to the box provided in the front office by Thursday, April 30th. If you have a 4th or 5th grader who would like to help hang these posters up on Friday, May 1st, please contact me.
Gift Card Gratitude: During Staff Appreciation Week, we will be giving away gift cards to our teachers and staff to express our gratitude to them for all that they do for our families each and every day. We have 88 “RockStar” staff members. Each person has filled out a survey with their favorite restaurant, shopping, candy, and other splurges. Our goal is for each staff member to receive a $25 and $15 gift card to their favorite places, and hopefully a few other goodies. Please click here to sign up to donate a gift card! Thank you!
- Baking and Cooking: We will be hosting various breakfasts and lunches for the staff during Staff Appreciation Week. In addition to the food from restaurants, the staff has shared that they really enjoy the “personal” dishes that our Cerritos families have contributed in the past. We’d like to continue this tradition. Please be on the lookout for a future Sign Up to help out with this very important part of the week.
